Christ of Havana Overlooking Port of Havana

Seen from the rooftop bar of the Hotel Ambos Mudos, where Hemingway lived in the 1930s.

The statue was placed here, welcoming all who arrive in Havana by ship, in 1958.  Before it was sent to Cuba, it was personally blessed by Venerable Pius XII.  His blessing remains.

By the way, it is total myth Hemingway was a great author.  His stories  have all sorts of sordid themes such as Masonry, booze, atheism and reckless and false male bravado.
